A founding Director of Sazani Associates, he is a natural resource conflict resolution specialist with a PhD on mining and conflict in South Eastern Europe. He has been working in the interface between communities public and private sector for more than 25 years across Africa and Europe and was actively involved in the Northern Irish peace process. A former UK Civil Servant, qualified UK Social Worker and Social Forester with an MSc in Planning, Mark specialises in both identifying the causes of and in managing natural resource based conflict. He has significant theoretical and practical expertise in engagement and community regeneration in urban and rural settings and in providing solutions to “Wicked Problems” and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
