Experience an enriching adventure that combines volunteering with tourism through the Coastal Education and Reforestation Initiative (CERI). For just £900, enjoy a two-week stay in Zanzibar that includes accommodation, food, activities, and transport.
Our carefully crafted programs address local needs and foster sustainable change through training and empowerment activities developed with our partners. As a volunteer, you will embark on a breathtaking journey to Zanzibar, engaging with local communities and supporting vocational training centers. Collaborate with various ministries in Tanzania and present the benefits of educational and innovative collaboration.

Blue solutions
The Blue Solutionsaims to address critical environmental challenges and support sustainable livelihoods in Zanzibar's coastal communities. This program focuses on the rehabilitation and conservation of vital coastal ecosystems such as mangroves By engaging volunteers in activities like mangrove planting, beach surveys and clean up campaigns, Blue Solutions promotes biodiversity, enhances coastal resilience, and empowers local populations through education and sustainable practices. Volunteers contribute to meaningful conservation efforts while gaining a deep understanding of Zanzibar’s unique coastal environment and culture
Day 1-2: Arrival and Orientation

Arrive in Zanzibar, orientation session, welcome lunch.
Day 3-4: Introduction to Mangroves

Workshop on mangrove importance, site visit for planting and maintenance.
Day 4-5: School Engagement

Visit one of our partner school, interactive activities with students.
Day 6-7 Mangrove-biodiversity

Visit to a mangrove, forest to carry out quadrant surveys of flora and fauna.
Day 8: Trip to Chumbe Island

Departure to Chumbe Island, guided tour of coral reefs and forest reserve, snorkeling.
Day 9-10: Environmental Education and Community Outreach

Conduct a survey of coastal biodiversity, including data collection on local species.
Day 11-12: Coastal Clean-Up and Reflection

Coastal clean-up activity, reflection session on week’s activities and creating of social media posts

Finally, days 13 and 14 provide leisure time to unwind and enjoy
the stunning Sazani Beach.

Green legacy
The Green Legacy initiative is dedicated to combating deforestation and promoting sustainable land use in Zanzibar. This program engages volunteers in tree planting, forest conservation, and community education efforts to restore and protect the island’s vital terrestrial ecosystems. By participating in activities such as nursery management, agroforestry training, and environmental workshops, volunteers help increase biodiversity, improve local air and soil quality, and support sustainable agriculture. The Green Legacy initiative not only contributes to environmental conservation but also empowers local communities with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain and enhance their natural resources.
Day 1: Arrival and Welcome

Road safety awareness
The Road Safety Awareness initiative focuses on improving road safety and reducing traffic-related accidents in Zanzibar. This program involves volunteers in educational campaigns, community workshops, and infrastructure assessments to promote safe driving practices and enhance public awareness. Volunteers work alongside local schools, community groups, and authorities to deliver road safety training, create informative materials, and organize awareness events. Through these efforts, the initiative aims to foster a culture of road safety, protect vulnerable road users, and ultimately save lives by reducing the incidence of traffic accidents

Enterprise and marketing skills
Overview: This initiative addresses high youth unemployment and rural poverty in Zanzibar. Creating space for 'blue sky' thinking and developing healthy and sustainable life skills to build young people's capabilities to access to improved future prospects. Graduate volunteers are offered an opportunity in supporting this initiative, to make a significant impact over four weeks.
Week 1: Introduction to Zanzibar and Key Skills

STONE TOWN ACCOMODATION
Fahmi Lodge is located in the centre of Stone Town, the
historic heart of Zanzibar, a captivating labyrinth of narrow

UNESCO World Heritage site is rich in cultural and
historical significance, featuring a blend of Swahili, Arabic,
