The Coastal Education and Reforestation Initiative (CERI) is a collaborative programme led by Sazani Trust Zanzibar and Sazani Associates, designed to strengthen youth skills, community resilience, and global citizenship through practical, locally relevant learning. ​
 

CERI brings together young people from Zanzibar and international volunteers to co-design and deliver activities that support sustainable livelihoods, social inclusion, and community-driven development.​

Rooted in the principles of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and participatory learning, the programme combines vocational training, enterprise development, and intercultural exchange. ​
 

Participants engage in real-world projects ranging from climate-smart enterprise to digital literacy and community research, enhancing both personal agency and collective well-being.​
